Take active part in European endoscopic research

ESGE is dedicated to the advance of skilled endoscopic practice through workshops, publication of guidelines, and research.

The ESGE Research Committee aims to establish, discuss and promote clinical research studies in digestive endoscopy on a broad European level.

For this purpose several research projects have been initiated by the members of the ESGE Research Committee. However, well designed studies cannot “come alive” and collect data without the active participation of endoscopic centers or active individual members.

Dr. Soren Meisner, ESGE Research Committee Chairman

The ESGE Research Committee encourages all endoscopists interested in research to visit the ESGE website and to participate on the following ongoing studies.

EUROSQUAM

Esophageal squamous cell carcinoma detection in patients with a history of ENT squamous cell carcinoma

To evaluate the incidence of squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) in groups of patients at risk To promote the use of chromoscopy for the detection of SCC

EUROBA

Evolutivity of short segment Barrett esophagus (tongue)

To determine the optimal surveillance program for patients presenting with Barrett esophagus without and with low grade dysplasia

EUROBIL 1

Biliary pancreatitis: sphincterotomy within 48 hours of symptoms onset versus conservative treatment

A randomized controlled trial

EURODISSEC

The next Research Committee meeting will take place during GASTRO 2009 in London. If you are conducting endoscopic research locally, and wish to expand your project on a European level, you are most welcome to attend the upcoming Research Committee meeting. Should you be interested in participating at this meeting or submitting a new protocol please contact the ESGE Technical Secretariat at secretariat@esge.com for further details.
