Summary
Based on 4.374 gastric biopsies a confrontation of histological diagnosis and clinical question is performed. Guided biopsy results in a high percentage of congruence in localized lesions like erosion, ulcer, polyp and carcinoma. The importance of the perfection of the examiner is stressed as well as the fact that the percentage of positive results is not a objective measure for the value of a method.
