Significance
A broad range of intramolecular arylcyanation products were obtained through this nickel/Lewis acid catalyzed reaction, and in two cases, with high diastereoselectivities. Furthermore, important intermediates were unambiguously identified for clarifying the reaction mechanism, and asymmetric versions were also developed for two substrates to give products with high enantioselectivities.
