Significance

Poly(styrene) resin-supported dendronized Co-(salen) complex 2 was prepared from 1 in five steps. The hydrolytic kinetic resolution (HKR) of several epoxides was carried out in the presence of 0.04 or 0.06 mol% Co of complex (4 examples, >99% ee in all cases). In the reaction of rac-epoxyhexane (R′ = n-Bu), the polymeric Co-(salen) catalyst 2 was recovered by simple filtration and reused 4 times (1st: 47% yield, >99% ee; 2nd: 45% yield, >99% ee; 3rd: 45% yield, 99% ee; 4th: 42% yield, 98% ee; 5th: 44% yield, 98% ee).
