Mit einem Kochleaimplantat (Cochlear Implant, CI) versorgte Menschen haben oftmals keine akustische Rückmeldung über ihre eigene Aussprache. Ein CI-Vocoder, der die Signalverarbeitung in einem CI simuliert und auralisiert, vermittelt einen detaillierten Eindruck von der Höreinschränkung der Betroffenen. In der logopädischen Ausbildung und Praxis kann ein solches Werkzeug eingesetzt werden, um ein vertieftes Verständnis für die CI-spezifischen Einschränkungen zu entwickeln und dafür zu sensibilisieren.
Abstract
People fitted with a cochlear implant (CI) often have no acoustic feedback about their own pronunciation. A CI vocoder, which simulates and auralizes the signal processing in a CI, gives a detailed impression of the hearing impairment of the affected person. In speech and language therapy education and practice, such a tool can be used to develop a deeper understanding and awareness of CI-specific limitations.
