ABSTRACT

Movements in sleep are basically physiological. In the International Classification of Sleep Disorders (ICSD 3), movements (especially Restless Legs Syndrome) and parasomnias are listed, which require clarification and, if necessary, therapy due to impairment of the person concerned. Movements within the framework of parasomnia can lead to injuries to the affected persons and the bed partner, sexual assaults are possible. This article is intended to provide an overview of the diagnosis and, if necessary, the forensic significance of parasomnias. In particular, possible therapies or preventive mechanisms will also be addressed.
