Keratitis solaris – Prävention, Diagnostik und Therapie der UV-bedingten Augenerkrankung

ZUSAMMENFASSUNG

UV-Strahlung ist ein großes Risiko für Augenschäden. Die Erkrankung Keratitis solaris, auch bekannt als „Schneeblindheit“ oder Keratitis photoelectrica, wird in diesem Beitrag vorgestellt. Sie lässt sich behandeln, kann jedoch starke Schmerzen verursachen und Erkrankte durch eingeschränkte Sicht in gefährliche Situationen bringen. Fester Bestandteil jeder Tour sollte deshalb eine geeignete Sonnenbrille sein, die auch weitere UV-bedingte Augenerkrankungen verhindern kann.

ABSTRACT

UV radiation is a major risk for eye damage. The ocular manifestation of Keratitis solaris, also known as „snow blindness“ or Keratitis photoelectrica is shown in this article. A treatment is possible but strong pain may occure and because of limited visual acuity the effected person can even get in dangerous situations. Suitable sunglasses should be an essential part of the tour equipment and also are considered to prevent other UV-induced ocular diseases.
