Arthur Berger et al. Long-term follow-up after endoscopic resection for superficial esophageal squamous cell carcinoma: a multicenter Western study

In this Western study on endoscopic resection of 148 esophageal squamous cell carcinomas, endoscopic submucosal dissection was demonstrated to be superior to endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR) in achieving higher rates of en bloc and curative resection. EMR procedure and deep cancer invasion were identified as independent risk factors for recurrence.
