Significance

The cyclization of propargyl alcohols with supercritical carbon dioxide (14 MPa) was catalyzed by (dimethylamino)methyl-polystyrene-supported copper(I) iodide (DMAM-PS-CuI). The reaction was carried out in the presence of DMAM-PS-CuI at 40 °C to afford the corresponding α-alkylidene cyclic carbonates in 0-99% yield (12 examples). The catalyst was recovered by simple filtration and reused four times without significant loss of catalytic activity.
