Significance

Reidispongiolide A is a sponge ­(Reidispongia coerulea) metabolite whose interaction with actin leads to microfilament destabilization and consequent antiproliferative activity. The first total synthesis of reidispongiolide A is based largely on boron-mediated aldol condensations.
