An All-Purpose Pd-NHC Precatalyst for Cross-Coupling Reactions

Significance

Despite the large number of developed cross-coupling catalysts, the search for robust and universal complexes for this purpose remains an important task. Herein, the authors describe a new, extremely versatile and highly efficient catalyst for the Negishi cross-coupling reaction. The catalyst is equally suitable for sp3-sp2, sp2-sp2 and sp3-sp3 coupling reactions. The catalyst prepa­ration is straightforward and the ligand used is readily available. Only 1 mol% of the catalyst is sufficient for most substrates, including aryl chlorides.
