Copper(I)-Catalyzed Efficient Arylation of Alcohols with Aryl Bromides

Significance

An efficient copper(I)-catalyzed ­arylation of alcohols with aryl bromides can be performed using readily available 8-hydroxyquinoline as a ligand and K3PO4 as a base. The reaction proceeds both in intramolecular and intermolecular way with a variety of aromatic and heterocyclic bromides giving good to excellent yields of aryl ethers.
