Asymmetric Hydrogen-Transfer Reaction with Polymer-Supported Ru Catalysts

Significance

The polymer-supported chiral 1,2-diamine monosulfonamides 4 and 5 were prepared by reaction of 1, 2, and 3 with AIBN in DMF. The asymmetric hydrogen-transfer reaction of ­ketones with the polymer-supported ligand (1.2 mol% of 4 or 5), [RuCl2(p-cymene)]2 (0.5 mol% of Ru) and HCO2Na in water gave the corresponding alcohols in 46-100% conversion and 60-99% ee values.
