Significance

A highly enantioselective cycloisomerization of symmetrical and unsymmetrical 1,6-dienes has been developed using a nickel catalyst and a chiral azaphospholene ligand. The products are substituted cyclopentenes and pyrrolidines. Two one-pot domino reactions have also been developed to show diastereoselective transformations of the cycloisomerization products.
