Significance

A silica-immobilized N-heterocyclic carbene copper(I) complex [SiO2-NHC-Cu(I)] was readily prepared in three steps. SiO2-NHC-Cu(I)-catalyzed three-component coupling reactions of aldehydes, alkynes, and amines (A3-coupling) under solvent-free conditions at room temperature to give the corresponding propargylamines in 43-96% yield (20 examples). The catalyst was recovered by simple filtration and reused nine times without loss of catalytic activity.
