Significance

Tricyclopropylbismuth was efficiently used in Pd-catalyzed cross-coupling reactions with various aryl- and heteroaryl iodides, bromides, chlorides and triflates. The reaction proceeds with tolerance of a broad spectrum of sensitive groups, such as keto or aldehyde functionalities without requiring strict anhydrous conditions. The transfer of an ethyl group was also realized using triethylbismuth under similar cross-couling conditions.
