Significance

This method represents the first synthetically convenient and economic nickel-catalyzed aminocarbonylation. DMF is directly coupled to the respective aryl bromides or iodides. Aryl halides with electron-donating substituents generally give high yields, while only low yields are received with electron-deficient substitution patterns.
