Significance

The first application of a camphorsulfonyl ethylene diamine based ligand in an asymmetric transfer hydrogenation is described. Additionally, the catalyst system is used in an environmentally friendly solvent (neat water) at a low catalyst loading (0.1%) and allows for highly enantioselective reduction of ketones with various electronic properties.
