Significance

Herein, a general palladium catalyst for the conversion of aromatic chlorides, triflates, and nonaflates into the corresponding nitro compounds using sodium nitrite is reported. The low solubility of NaNO2 in the solvent t-BuOH is overcome by using catalytic amounts of tris(3,6-dioxaheptyl)amine as phase-transfer catalyst.
