Significance

The oxidative coupling of terminal acetylenes with tertiary methylamines allows a simple preparation of various propargyl amines, which are useful synthetic intermediates and targets, especially for biochemical research. The ­reaction proceeds under mild conditions and is general for a broad range of terminal acetylenes and aliphatic amines.
