Significance

EBC-23 was extracted from the fruit of Cinnamomum laubati, an Australian tropical rainforest plant from the family of Lauraceae. The compound showed antitumor activity towards a spectrum of human cancer cell lines (among them melanoma MM96L, breast carcinoma MCF7 and prostate cancer DU145) and is a strong potential candidate for the treatment of refractory solid tumors.
