The synthesis of the building blocks required for the preparation of all the "amide-3" dimers is reported. Five representative dimers are described, as well as the melting temperatures (Tm) of the duplexes formed between an oligonucleotide containing alternating phosphodiester-"amide-3" linkages with its complementary DNA and RNA strand.
