A³-Coupling Reaction Catalyzed by a Supported Gold(III) Catalyst

Significance

Three-component coupling of various aldehydes 1, amines 2, and alkynes 3 (A³ coupling) took place in the presence of supported gold catalyst (Au/CeO2 or Au/ZrO2; aldehyde: amine:alkyne = 1:1.2:1.3) to give the corresponding propargyl amines 4 in up to 99% yield (28 examples). The authors also tested gold catalysts of different support media. Au/CeO2 and Au/ZrO2 were superior to various supported catalysts, for example, Au/SiO2, Au/C, Au/TiO2, Au/Fe2O3.
