Nordic Walking bei Diabetes

Zusammenfassung

Die Arteriosklerose mit akutem Myokardinfarkt und Schlaganfall als Folgeerkrankungen stellt die Haupttodesursache bei Patienten mit Diabetes mellitus Typ 2 dar. Diese Patienten entwickeln typischerweise sehr früh eine diffuse und ausgedehnte Arteriosklerose. Begleiterkrankungen wie Dyslipidämie, Hyperglykämie, Vorkommen von AGE, endotheliale Dysfunktion und Hyperkoagulobilität sind am Arterioskleroseprozess typischerweise beteiligt. Nicht medikamentöse Maßnahmen wie Nordic Walking können dazu beitragen, das erhöhte kardiovaskuläre Risiko zu senken. Die vorliegende Arbeit gibt Tipps für die praktische Umsetzung des Nordic Walking im Alltag der Betroffenen unter Berücksichtigung des aktuellen Kenntnisstandes der pathophysiologischen Wirkung von körperlicher Aktivität bei Diabetes mellitus.

Abstract

Atherosclerosis with its clinical appearance, acute myocardial infarction or stroke, is in most cases responsible for death in patients with type-2 diabetes mellitus. These patients exhibit an increased propensity for a widespread development of atherosclerosis. Associated metabolic disorders like dyslipidemia, hyperglycaemia as well as the presence of advanced glycation endproducts, endothelial dysfunction and hypercoagulability have been implicated in the atherogenesis of type-2-diabetics. Non pharmacological treatments such as Nordic walking could help to lower the increased risk of these patients. This paper will give practical advices for Nordic walking under everyday conditions focused on pathophysiological findings of physical training in type 2 diabetic patients.
