Significance

Although there are several protocols developed for asymmetric 1,3-dipolar cyclo­addition reactions, this is one of the first examples of a Ni-catalyzed variant. Using low catalyst loadings under mild conditions, the products are obtained in good to excellent yields and high enantioselecti­vities. The chiral ligand used is easily prepared from commercially available precursors.
