Significance

Psymberin, a member of the pederin family, is a potent and selective cytotoxin derived from a sponge Psammocinia sp. A PhI(OAc)2-mediated oxidative cyclization reaction of N-acyl enamine D to form α-oxy N-acyl aminal E is the key step in the synthesis (Tetrahedron Lett. 2007, 48, 1967).
