Zusammenfassung

Der vorliegende Beitrag beleuchtet die Vielzahl zahnmedizinischer Einsatzmöglichkeiten für eine dreidimensionale Bildgebung im kraniofazialen Bereich mithilfe der Cone-Beam-Computertomografie (CBCT). Viele Disziplinen nutzen bereits jetzt die zusätzlichen Informationen und die größere Genauigkeit von CBCT-generierten 3D-Aufnahmen zur Verbesserung der klinisch-zahnmedizinischen Versorgung. Mit fortschreitender Weiterentwicklung von Hard- und Software wird die Cone-Beam-Computertomografie bald zum neuen Standard in der kraniofazialen Diagnostik und Behandlungsplanung werden.

Abstract

This article highlights the numerous dental applications of 3D-craniofacial imaging using cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT). Many specialties have already taken advantage of the additional information, greater clarity, and increased accuracy of CBCT generated 3D-images to improve the quality of clinical care in dentistry. As the technology continues to advance for both imaging hardware and software, CBCT will soon become the new standard of care for craniofacial diagnosis and treatment planning.
