Significance

Rhodium has proven to be the metal of choice for many carbon-carbon bond-forming reactions. In the present paper, the authors report on the rhodium-catalyzed, stereoselective 1,4-ary­lation of exo-methylene bicyclic lactams to produce pyrrolizidinones. The selectivity of the reaction could be modulated by changing the nature of the organometallic nucleophiles.
