Abstract

This account focuses on the generation of α-lithiated ­aryloxiranes such as lithiated oxazolinylaryloxiranes, lithiated styrene-, phenylpropylene- and stilbene oxides, their chemical and configurational stability, reactivity and some synthetic applications. It is shown how these special reagents have been successfully employed for the preparation of a variety of substances including polysubstituted aryloxiranes, highly strained heterocyclic compounds, α,β-epoxy-γ-butyrolactones, cyclopropane carboxylates.
