Zusammenfassung

Die Magnetresonanztomographie ist eine der wichtigsten diagnostischen Verfahren seit der Entdeckung der Röntgenstrahlen vor mehr als 100 Jahren. Das gastroenterologische Interesse ist derzeit fokussiert auf das bilio-pankreatische System und Erkrankungen des Verdauungstraktes. Die MRCP ist hierbei bereits ein alternatives Verfahren zur diagnostischen ERCP in einer Vielzahl von Erkrankungen des hepatobiliären Systems und des Pankreas. Die Darstellung des Dünndarms mittels MRT ist im Begriff den konventionellen Röntgen-Sellink als Methode der Wahl abzulösen. Im Gegensatz hierzu steht die MR-Kolonographie noch am Anfang der Entwicklung und kann zum gegenwärtigen Zeitpunkt noch nicht als Screeningmethode der ersten Wahl empfohlen werden. Für den weiteren Fortschritt der MRT Diagnostik im Bereich der Gastroenterologie ist eine enge Kooperation zwischen Gastroenterologen und Radiologen notwendig.

Abstract

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has been called the most important development in medical diagnosis since the discovery of the x-ray more than 100 years ago. The effectivness of MRI has been expanded to a variety of gastrointestinal disorders. The gastroenterologist's attention is currently focussed on bilio-pancreatic and bowel diseases. Magnetic resonance cholangiopancreaticigraphy (MRCP) has become a competitive replacement for diagnostic ERCP in a variety of hepatobiliary and pancreatic diseases. MR enteroscopy has potential to become the preferable method for evaluating the entire small bowel, while on the other hand virtual colonoscopy is far from being promoted as a tool for general screening purposes in suspected colon diseases. In summery whether or not the survival of endoscopy is under debate, MRI could mark a historic turning point in gastroenterology. So MRI hardware might be interdisciplinary used by, for example, radiologists and gastroenterologists.
