Syntheses of several series of medium-sized ring systems incorporating two or four cationic sites are reported. The parent rings range in size from ten to twenty-six members, each bearing two or four quaternary ammonium sites. The syntheses and characteristics of such polycationic ring systems containing a variety of aromatic rings as well as olefinic and acetylenic linkages are described.
