The first example of an asymmetric version of the Pauson-Khand cyclisation promoted solely by a chiral amine N-oxide, brucine N-oxide, is reported. This amine N-oxide has been utilised in the Pauson-Khand annulation to give excellent yields and good enantiomeric excesses of cyclopentenone at low temperature.
