The palladium-catalyzed cross-coupling reaction of propargylic carbonates with organoboron compounds such as 1-alkenyl, 1-alkynyl, and arylboronic acids or their esters and 9-alkyl-9-BBN produced allene derivatives in high yields. The electronic effects on the boron-palladium transmetallation reaction which proceeds through (alkoxo)palladium(II) intermediates are also discussed.
