The first representatives of the as yet unknown group of [2.1] paracyclonaphthalinophanes, hydrocarbons 5, 7 and 10, have been obtained by ZnCl2 induced dehydration/rearrangement of penta-1,4-dien-3-ols containing [2.2]paracyclophane-1,9-diene units; 5 has been characterized by X-ray crystal structure analysis.
