Intramolecular nitrile alkylations to from E- and Z-cyclopropanes have been studied utilizing a range of techniques and leaving groups. Enhanced conditions for forming Z-cyclopropyl nitriles has been applied to a nitrile pyrrole substrate that is of interest for analogs of CC-1065.
