A stereocontrolled total synthesis of acerosolide (1), a fourteen-membered furanocembranolide produced by the Caribbean gorgonian Pseudopterogorgia acerosa, has been accomplished by a concise series of reactions featuring a regioreversed allylstannane condensation and an intramolecular chromium(II) chloride-promoted macrocyclization.
