The first synthesis of siphonodictidine and a formal synthesis of pleraplysillin-2 have been accomplished in a highly concise and regiocontrolled manner by the use of 2-(tert-butyldimethylsiloxy)-3-methylfuran as the crucial building block, which was alkylated with 8-bromogeranyl acetate in the presence of silver trifluoroacetate.
