Interdentalraumhygiene – nicht mehr up to date?

Die regelmäßige und suffiziente Entfernung des interdentalen Biofilms zur Vermeidung von plaqueassoziierten Erkrankungen wie Karies oder Parodontitis ist biologisch plausibel. Jedoch steht die Sinnhaftigkeit der Nutzung von Zahnseide derzeit im Fokus. Auslöser dieser Debatte war vor allem, dass die Empfehlung zur Nutzung von Zahnseide aus den Amerikanischen Dietary Guidelines 2015 – 2020 mit der Begründung der mangelnden Evidenz herausgenommen wurde [1]. Diese Entscheidung hat zu Verunsicherungen bei Patienten und in der Profession geführt. Daher soll im Folgenden eine Übersicht über die Wirksamkeit der Anwendung verschiedener Interdentalraumhygieneprodukte geben werden.
