Zusammenfassung

Aronia melanocarpa, die Schwarze Apfelbeere, aus der Familie der Rosaceae stammt ursprünglich aus dem östlichen Nordamerika und wird heute auch in Europa angebaut. Wesentliche Inhaltsstoffe der in Lebensmitteln enthaltenen Früchte, der Aroniabeeren, sind Proanthocyanidine, Anthocyanidine und weitere phenolische Verbindungen. In den letzten Jahren wurden zahlreiche Untersuchungen an Aroniabeeren-Extrakten u.a. zu antioxidativen, antiinflammatorischen und chemopräventiven Wirkungen sowie zur Wirkung beim metabolischen Syndrom durchgeführt. Diese Studien belegen gesundheitsfördernde Aktivitäten von Aroniabeeren-Extrakten.

Aronia melanocarpa (Michx.) Elliot: The (black) chokeberry

Aronia melanocarpa, the (black) chokeberry, (Rosaceae) is indigenous to eastern parts of Northern America and is nowadays also cultivated in Europe. Major ingredients of the chokeberry fruits which are part of foodstuff include proanthocyanidins, anthocyanins and further phenolic compounds. Within the last years numerous studies have been performed with chokeberry fruit extracts. They revealed e. g. antioxidative, anti-inflammatory and chemopreventive activities as well as effects on the metabolic syndrome. These studies confirm health beneficial effects of chokeberry fruit extracts.
