Significance

The palladium-catalyzed allylic ­fluorination is one of the first methods for the enantio­selective synthesis of branched allylic ­fluorides. ­Following the authors’ recent report on allylic substitution of cyclic allyl chlorides (J. Am. Chem. Soc. 2010, 132, 17402), the methodology was extended to acyclic substrates.
