Significance

C 3-Symmetric molecules with fused ring systems such as truxene are interesting candidates for optoelectronic applications. The authors present a versatile synthetic approach toward C 3-symmetric thiophene-containing molecules with a 6,5,5 architecture. The HOMO level of these compounds is raised compared to truxene as evidenced by a lower oxidation potential in CV and a red-shifted absorption and emission.
