Asymmetric α-Oxyamination with a Peptide Catalyst and Laccase

Significance

2,2,6,6-Tetramethylpiperidine-1-oxyl (TEMPO)-mediated air oxidation of aldehydes by an oxidative enzyme, laccase (EC 1.10.3.2), and a polymer-supported peptide catalyst is performed in water. Thus, the reaction of alkyl aldehydes with TEMPO was carried out with the PS-PEG-supported peptide catalyst 1 and laccase in buffer solution (pH 4.4) to give the corresponding α-oxyaminated aldehydes (2a-d) in 71-77% yield with 86-90% ee.
