Coupling of Indium Homoenolates with Acid Chlorides

Significance

In this work the preparation of ­water-tolerant indium homoenolates is reported. The reaction proceeds exclusively in aqueous ­solution by the oxidative addition of In/InCl3. The synthetic value of these homoenolates is shown in a palladium-catalyzed coupling with various acid chlorides, providing 1,4-dicarbonyl compounds in excellent yield.
