Significance

A site-selective modification of a ­vitamin D analogue (deltanoid) using a poly­styrene-supported selenium reagent was described. The modified vitamin D2 attached to the selenium resin was readily converted into 9, the key intermediate of calcipotriol, via organoselenium-assisted [2,3]-sigmatropic rearrangement.
