Enantioselective Hydrolysis of Soluble Polymer-Supported Carboxylates

Significance

The enzyme-mediated enantio­selective hydrolysis of water-soluble polymer-­supported caboxylates is described. Thus, mono-methoxy poly(ethylene glycol) (MPEG, average MW 5000) supported carboxylates (±)-7 were ­prepared from (±)-phenylethanol 1 in four steps. The hydrolysis of (±)-7a-g was performed with Novozym 435 in hexane-buffer (9:1) to afford the enantioenriched (R)-1 and the unreacted (S)-7a-g.
