Significance

The combination of transition-­metal and organocatalysis allows for many remarkable reactions that would be unattainable with any single catalytic system (see Review below). Utilizing a ruthenium and a chiral amine catalyst, the authors combine aldehydes with propargylic alcohols to form propargylic alkylated products.
