Significance

The hydrogen-transfer reduction of nitroarenes was carried out in aqueous methanol at 408 K under 2.0 MPa Ar in the presence of Au-Pd/Al2O3 catalyst and conjugated aldehydes to give the corresponding imines with high selectivity.
