Water-Soluble Palladium Nanoparticles for the Suzuki Cross-Coupling

Significance

The water-soluble palladium nanoparticle catalyst 4 was prepared from trialkyne 1 and PEG-supported azide 2 via click cycloaddition, which was used for the Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling. Thus, the cross-coupling of iodo-, bromo-, and chloroarenes 5 (0.3 mmol) and arylboronic acids 6 (0.45 mmol) was performed with the catalyst 4 (0.25 mol%) and K2CO3 (0.75 mmol) to give the corresponding biaryl and teraryl compounds 7 in 16-99% yield (22 examples).
