Significance

The direct boronate conjugate addition to unsaturated carboxylic esters, ketones, and thioesters is realized by a NHC copper(I) complex, derived from an easily prepared C 1-symmetric imidazolinium salt, to prepare β-boryl carbonyl type products in excellent yields and enantio­selectivities.
