Continuous Flow C-H Borylation of Arenes

Significance
The iridium complex catalyst, BPDCA-cat, was prepared from chloro(1,5-cyclo-octadiene)iridium(I) dimer and 2,2′-bipyridine-4,4′-dicarboxylic acid in the presence of bis(pinacolato)diboron (1) in benzene. BPDCA-cat was applied to C-H borylation under flow system. Thus, a solution of aromatic substrates and 1 was installed into the stainless column reactor (4 mm x 30 mm) charged with BPDCA-cat (145 mg) under flow conditions (0.1 mmol/h) using a syringe pump to give the corresponding borylated products 2 in 67-93% yield.
